2016 fogging programme starts Monday

THE VECTOR CONTROL UNIT of the Ministry of Health will officially start its 2016 fogging programme, aimed at controlling the Aedes Aegypti mosquito population, on Monday, January 18.

Monday: Fogging takes place in St James in the areas of Holetown, 1st and 2nd Streets, Jamestown Park, Sunset Boulevard, Sunset Crest, Hibiscus Avenue, Cherry Avenue, Cemetery Lane, Mahoe Avenue, Cordia Avenue, Palm Avenue, Laynes Road, Paynes Bay, Chapel Road, Clarke’s Road, Appleby Gardens and the environs.

Tuesday: The exercise moves to Christ Church in Dayrells Road, Rockley Terrace, Rockley, Blue Waters, Garden #1 and #2, Peronne Gap, Rendezvous and Golf Club Road.

The team will also be in Maxwell Coast Road, Dover Gardens, Dover Road, Headley Road, Dover Terrace, Dover with Avenues, Paradise Village, St Lawrence Gap and neighbouring districts.

Wednesday: They will return to St James, fogging Lower Carlton with Avenues 1 to 4, Bairds Road, Weston, Crick Hill, Mount Standfast and Taylor’s Gap. A team will also be in The Garden, Fox Club Road, Reid’s Gap, Prescod Road, Mount Standfast Park, Pattane Gardens, Porters, Glitter Bay Terrace, Trents, Trents Tenantry Road and surrounding areas.

Thursday: There will be no fogging exercise on Errol Barrow Day, which is a public holiday.

Friday: Several districts in St Michael will be sprayed, including Pickwick Gap with Avenues, Westbury Road, School Gap, Grants Gap, Westbury New Road, Parris Gap with Avenues and Morris Gap.

Other areas to be fogged on Friday are Exmouth, Brandons, Holders Land, Birds River, Deacons Road, Deacons Court, Black Rock, Fernihurst, Ashdeane Village, Brighton, Deacons Farm and the environs.

The exercise will be carried out from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. daily and householders are reminded to open windows and doors to allow the spray to enter. Persons with respiratory problems are advised to protect themselves and children should not play in the fog. (BGIS)
