THE BARBADOS FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (BFA) is kicking with FIFA presidential candidate Gianni Infantino of Switzerland in next month’s vote to replace Sepp Blatter at the helm of the crisis-hit global football body.

Infantino flew into Barbados late Sunday night on a private jet and visited the BFA’s headquarters and the AstroTurf Facility in Wildey, St Michael, during the feature match of a Digicel Premier League triple-header at the venue.

When contacted yesterday, BFA president Randy Harris, without denying or confirming a Reuters News Agency report that Infantino had gained his support, told the DAILY NATION that he had invited the high-ranking football administrator into Barbados to have a first-hand look at the sport’s infrastructure.

Infantino, who is general secretary of European football body UEFA, was a special guest at last weekend’s two-day meeting in Antigua of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), which has 25 votes in the upcoming FIFA election. (EZS/REUTERS)
