FLOGGING CHILDREN is an option for parents when it comes to ensuring discipline in the home and dealing with wayward youth.

Another is raising them in a structured family environment and teaching them right from wrong. Stated simply, parents shouldn’t rush to flog children nor should they take corporal punishment completely off the table.

That’s the view of the Most Reverend Dr John Holder, Anglican Archbishop of the West Indies and Barbados’ Anglican Bishop. Like adults across Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean, Holder is concerned about the way many children misbehave.

“We have a lot of people who have raised some wonderful children who have gone on to enjoy successful careers and lives. The parents have never used corporal punishment,” insisted the Archbishop.
