PASSENGERS aboard a Jet Blue flight bound for New York had to evacuate the plane after a mechanical fault was detected just before take off from Grantley Adams International Airport this afternoon.
In an official statement the airline said initial reports indicated that Flight 662 with 144 passengers “stopped on the runway before taking off due to an engine mechanical indication.
“In an abundance of caution, the captain elected to declare an emergency. Local emergency response personnel were dispatched to the aircraft but found no visible damage. The aircraft returned to the terminal under its own power. Customers deplaned normally and no injuries have been reported.”
The statement added that “the aircraft is currently being inspected by maintenance”. (MB/PR)
