Barbados is facing a groundwater crisis which needs to be urgently addressed, says Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.

And unless there is “a sea change in the behaviour of every Bajan”, “they are going to have to face the consequences.”

Mottley was speaking after addressing the inaugural Caribbean Water Conference hosted in collaboration with the United States Agency for Development (USAID) at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC).

She also announced the setting up of the Barbados Water Academy as a division of the Barbados Community College.

Principal of the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology, Dr David Farrell, will chair the advisory committee that will establish the Academy, currently in the planning stage. (Nation News)
