THE controversial tipping fee is up for review. This was revealed by Minster of Environment Dr Denis Lowe yesterday, though he has not confirmed when it will take place.
Instead, Lowe said when the fee is reviewed it would be done with the aim of ensuring that everyone who generates waste pays their part for its management and disposal.
“What the Government has said is we will meet you half-way. We will look at the tipping fee, we will scrutinise it, and we will try to ensure that all persons who generate waste are part of the paying for that waste.
“There will be a further examination of the tipping fee with a view of ensuring that it is a fee that does not discriminate against anyone. It is a fee that is manageable and it is a fee that is within the corridors of international law and expectation,” Lowe said.
