Nightmare harbour

WHAT IS SUPPOSED to be safe harbour for scores of fishermen and boat owners at the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex is now a nightmare facility sinking their livelihoods.

The complex was opened in 1989 featuring modern dolo technology providing an almost impregnable breakwater during rough seas.

However, 27 years  later, the small harbour  is a stagnant,  garbage-filled, worm-infested place where the water hardly ever circulates.

After years of complaints from fed up fishermen, one boat owner invited a WEEKEND NATION team into the restricted area to view the horrible conditions at the complex.

Please read the full story in today’s Weekend Nation, or in the eNATION edition.
