ROADSIDE VENDORS are divided on how safe it is to ply their trade on the streets at night, especially after a young woman was allegedly raped and robbed two weeks ago near to the Norman Niles roundabout in Haggatt Hall, St Michael.

At the very spot in Haggatt Hall, the operation was still in high gear last Tuesday night. Julie, the proprietor, said in spite of the incident, she felt safe.

“I don’t feel scared at night because my sons are usually here with me, and the police usually do regular patrols. My husband, who is also out here, used to do security. Before I come out on evenings, I say my prayers and ask for the Lord to cover us, so I have no worries,” she told the SATURDAY SUN.
