‘Fat chance’ tax will work

IMPOSING A FAT TAX will not motivate overweight or obese people to drop excess pounds, say some Barbadians.

On Thursday, health-conscious Barbadians exercising along the Garrison Savannah, weighed in on the controversial tax on fat people proposed by university health sciences lecturer Dr Lennox Sealy.

They described the idea as “ridiculous”, “mad” and frankly, “nonsensical”.

Just before the warm light of the sun gave way to the cool evening breeze, those who were stretching, getting ready for their walk and run, or cooling down, shared their views.

Ricardo, 58,  as he preferred to be called, said a person’s weight all depended on their lifestyle.
