WORLD CUP winner Carlos Brathwaite is ready to move from being a West Indian superman to an Indian Daredevil.
The 27-year-old Brathwaite will return this morning (10:30 local time) to Kolkata, the scene of his swashbuckling last over heroics for the West Indies in the World Twenty20 final against England.
Brathwaite will be making his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he turns out for Delhi Daredevils against the Kolkata Knight Riders side that includes fellow West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell.
“It is great to be playing at the same ground in front of the same fans, but it is a completely different tournament, different game, different team.
“I am in a different team myself, different opposition so I have to treat the game with respect,” he told Cricinfo.
Brathwaite will play alongside South African international players Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir and Chris Morris.
The mentor for the Daredevils is Brathwaite’s boyhood idol, former Indian great Rahul Dravid. (MK)
