A MAN who frequents Taylor Gap, Hindsbury Road, St Michael, is crying foul after a number of free range chickens fell to their death from their roost after eating bait set to kill rats in the district.

An irate Will St Lewis, who described himself as a former health inspector of four years, called in the MIDWEEK NATION and gave the rat baiters a failing grade on how they distributed the poison.

About 11 birds, including eight mature hens and a cock, succumbed after consuming the bait that was strewn in a bushy area.

“Rats like to steal. They should have put the bait in a container. Last night I heard the fowls falling from the tree. It is reckless behaviour by [those who put the bait down]. They just come and spray the place with it,” said St Lewis. (JS)
