THE MOTHER of six-year-old Jahan King and her boyfriend have been charged with his death after a near ten-month investigation.

Dwayne Alistair Marshall, 35, and Lasonta Katrina Gill, 26, of Belfield, Jackson, St Michael have been charged with manslaughter and are expected in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Jahan, who had resided at the same address, was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance on June 29, 2015 but never recovered from his injuries. A post- mortem revealed that the Lawrence T. Gay pupil died from blunt trauma to his chest and abdomen.

The death of the child, along with an earlier suspected suicide of 12-year-old Shemar Weekes amid abuse reports, sparked an outcry for justice and public criticism of the way the child protection agency, the Child Care Board, responded to such reports. (AC)
