Weak reggae vibes

THE DAIQUIRI BEACH, Pirates Cove Complex, Bay Street, St Michael, was transformed into a Jam Town when the 11th edition of the Digicel Reggae Festival sounded off on Sunday night.

Obsessed fans rode the dancehall rhythms in an atmosphere of fine weather and flowing drinks, but overall the line-up was one of the weakest in recent years and there was no one stand-out act of which to boast.

The show’s “headliner”, Alkaline and his entourage, graced the stage about 10:20 p.m. for a 40-minute session which ended in an anti-climax.

Alkaline, real name Earlan Bartley, sent the thousands-strong crowd into an early frenzy with dancehall favourites like Love Yuh Everything, Move Mountain, Purple Touch and Ride On Me. Those who preferred his softer side saw the 22-year-old slow down the pace with Wih We Ago Do and Gone Away. (SDB Media)
