Mayers’ ton settles crown

A PULSATING, boundary-studded century by Kyle Mayers piloted Keith Boyce XI to a stirring four-wicket win that dethroned defending champions Lee’s Bistro Catering Combermere, when the curtain came down on the 2016 Keith Boyce Memorial Cricket Competition on Thursday, National Heroes Day, at the Diamondshire Club, St Peter.

Left-hander Mayers, batting at No.3, anchored a perfectly-paced pursuit of the imposing target set by the Combermerians, who posted 258 for five off 32 overs after they were invited to bat.

The former Barbados Youth player, who represented Windward Islands Volcanoes in this season’s Professional Cricket League competitions, expertly blended sensible defence with raw aggression in a measured innings of 102 off 74 balls.
