THE WOMAN at the head of the entity charged with promoting the island’s attractions says Barbados is not taking advantage of its World Heritage Site designation.
Dr Kerry Hall, chief executive officer of the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA), said she believed officials should be trumpeting the UNESCO designation every time the island took part in a trade show and it should be prominently displayed at its air and sea ports.
Hall was speaking to the DAILY NATION on the sidelines of the BTPA/National Cultural Foundation Holetown Heritage Walking Tour which began at St James Parish Church yesterday evening.
It’s been five years since Bridgetown and its Garrison was given the prestigious designation by UNESCO and Hall said there was “room for improvement” in its promotional use.
