FRUSTRATED MOTORISTS and public service vehicle (PSV) drivers are up in arms over what they consider unfair treatment from some police officers.
Although the machinery at the Barbados Licensing Authority which is used to print licences has been down for several weeks, reports reaching the DAILY NATION indicate that drivers are still being reported by traffic cops.
Drivers complained that even after explaining the situation to police and showing them receipts issued by the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) to prove their licences had been paid, they were still being charged with traffic offences.
Investigations revealed that while the machine at the Licensing Authority’s Oistins, Christ Church branch was in operation yesterday morning, it broke down sometime in the afternoon.
However, the machine at the Pine, St Michael headquarters has been out of service for the past two weeks, while that at Speightstown, St Peter, has reportedly been down for months. (RB)
