JAMAR WALKES has decided to push himself out of his comfort zone and get involved in Crop Over this year.

“I always wanted to be here but I never did it before so I pushed myself. This year, Randy Eastmond is the man [who supported] me and released my music,” the 20-year-old said in a recent interview with EASY magazine.

Jamar was also supported by his friends, who encouraged him to see his dreams through.

“I was home, not working, and I started to write music . . . My friends first push me to record, and told me if I didn’t try, I would not know what would happen.”

We Ain’t Leaving is his first offering. Riding the Hi Tide riddim, the song was produced and recorded at Eastmond’s Quantum Productions.

“The whole concept is that I love Crop Over and I don’t want to leave it, so I am encouraging everyone to do the same and keep 246 on the map . . .”

The up and coming artiste and songwriter said he looked up to “anyone in entertainment” and wanted to spend this season networking as well as working on his stage presence and performance skills.

He was pleased with his first performance at the launch of the Mega Cavalcade recently, but added: “I just need to get more comfortable with the stage and do it to the best of my ability . . . The first set of people who heard [my song] were people that I knew and they said it was good and they were looking forward to more, but I also want to get feedback from the general public to better myself.” (GBM)
