GOLD FOR GOLD apparently paid off.

The road to Rio will be a smoother one now for the country’s Olympic athletes after the Barbados Lottery’s “Going For Gold” scratch card game initiative was able to raise $50 000 to aid the Barbados Olympic Association’s (BOA) funding for the Summer Games.

Site operations manager at the Barbados Lottery, Dentonia Brewster, made the official presentation during yesterday’s Press conference announcing the inclusion of Lani Cabrera, Jason Wilson and Mike Maskell on the Bajan Olympics contingent at the BOA’s Wildey headquarters.

“Preparing for the Olympics is an extremely expensive exercise and there are never enough funds available to provide the level of support needed, especially when compared to the millions of dollars the bigger countries are able to invest in their athletes. Thus these funds from the Barbados Lottery will be of great assistance,” said BOA secretary general Erskine Simmons.
