IT IS often said that a sequel cannot surpass the first production of any movie.
Well, not if the main stars are the “World Boss” Julian “Michael Jackson” White and world champion Mark “Venom” Griffith battling in the Burger King Invitational Road Tennis Blast II at the Sky Mall on Sunday night.
White took his second successive Blast and the first prize of $500 with a supreme 21-19 defeat of Griffith which rivalled Blast I for the matching rivalry but was superior in the way White surged and finished off his antagonist.
With shots and counter shots of the highest quality both White and Griffith entertained the large crowd while a few controversial calls added to the drama as White earned his 44th national title in style. Griffith scored the first point and White countered with his trademark cross court drag and Kodak pose to then drop his racket in disbelief as the scorer called, “Out, 2-0.” (KB)
