AKELA JONES is giving herself two shots at Olympic glory.

The speculation is finally over, as Barbados’ darling of the track revealed she’ll be contesting not just the heptathlon, but the high jump as well at the upcoming Rio Games.

Jones explained the reason for her choice in an interview with WEEKEND SPORT after returning home on Wednesday night to compete in this weekend’s National Championships.

“Those are my best events this year, so it makes sense to contest them and the schedule allows for me to do it. There are two rounds of the high jump, and the heptathlon is the first two days, then you get a few days to rest, and then the prelims of the high jump start before the finals,” said the 21-year-old Kansas State University senior.
