IT SEEMS A BIRTHDAY BOY had the right antidote to deal with a poisonous snake.
Marson Johnson did just that to qualify for last night’s finals of the inaugural Line Eye Bush Hall Finest Road Tennis Tournament by defeating Julian “Snake” Quimby 21-7, 17-21, 21-11 at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Centre in Bush Hall, St Michael, on Tuesday night.
Johnson, who constantly struggles with back problems, celebrated his 43rd birthday with a facile first-game sow over the grim-faced Quimby by playing the ball with velvet smoothness.
However, Quimby battled back, forcing Johnson to take a break in the second game. (KB)
