Fine or 12 months for drug mule

She grabbed at a trip to a place she had never visited before.

However, Canadian Ashley May Turner-Petawaysin’s free trip came with one catch – she was to bring two already packed suitcases with her to Barbados.

Those two suitcases, which had in cannabis, earned her two forthwith fines and a possible 12-month stay at Dodds Prison, when she appeared in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Turner-Petawaysin, 29, of Norwood Road, Toronto, Ontario, pleaded guilty to having cannabis; having a traffickable quantity of the drug; having it with intent to supply and importing it on January 28. (HLE)
