JULIAN “MICHAEL JACKSON” WHITE, aka World Boss, defeated No. 1 road tennis player Mark “Venom” Griffith in a fourth successive final to capture the National Cultural Foundation championship on the Spring Garden Highway on Tuesday.

Playing with sublime skill and confidence, White turned away Griffith 21-16, 21-16 to take a ticket to any destination to which LIAT travels as well as $600. Griffith, who dominated the circuit in 2015, won a ticket and $400.

Playing in front of a big crowd of regular and new fans, White answered the naysayers who contended that his three victories over Griffith in the Burger King competition were shotgun, one-game matches equivalent to T20 cricket.

However, employing the impressive style of setting up his opponent with two shots into his backhand and then repeatedly leaving him wrong-footed with a backhand drag, White showed why he has won more national titles than anyone else. (KB)
