DEAR CHRISTINE: Lover comes with strings attached

Share post:

DEAR CHRISTINE, After reading your column for some time, I think you are the one person who can help me.

I am a 32-year-old man who met a lady who is one year older than I am. I liked her from the time I set eyes on her.

Now when I like a female, I can be very shy but with a little help from a friend, I got to talk to her. After a while, we became lovers. I really love her.

When we met there was already a man in her life. I knew about him but she was not getting a fair break with him. So with my love for her, I decided to wait on her to be free of him. She also asked me to wait.

But, Christine, things have not gone well at all. They are really worse between the man and her and yet she is giving me all kinds of horrors.

She says she knows she is the only person who will be happy with me, yet the things she does – like following him around to see what other women he is talking to or taking out – leaves me to wonder if she really wants to be free of him.

Now, Christine, I know that true love never does run smooth. My love for her is true, but do you think I should wait around for her? I love her and really want her to share my life. God knows, I want to marry her.

Please tell me what you think and what to do.

– K.S.

Dear K.S.,

I feel that as unworthy as this man is, she loves him, but at the same time she finds you loveable and kind.

Wisdom tells her you are the better person to love, but hearts in love are rarely guided by wisdom and so she may be caught between the two of you. In fact, I would go so far as to say she wants to be loyal to both of you – but that can never truly happen.

If you have offered her marriage and she still stays with this man, then there is no reason for you to hang around. For what?

Find yourself some other attractive lady who you can love and who will love you in return.

– CHRISTINE
