One plant was commissioned at The Hope in St Lucy yesterday and it is expected to help alleviate the water woes experienced by scores of residents in the north. The other is expected to be launched in November.
Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resources Management Dr David Estwick said that with thousands more gallons of water produced each day, the upgrade of the systems at Warleigh and Boscobel, St Peter; Half Acre and Lamberts, in St Lucy; and Rock Hall, St Thomas would take place.
Estwick said low rainfall for the last four to five years led to drought conditions and it was obvious the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) could not rely solely on rainwater to replenish the underground aquifers. (LK)
