Death hits hard

ONE OF Colin Greaves’ last acts was to kneel at his mother’s grave, place flowers on it and whisper: “Mum, I can’t stop here now. I’m in a hurry and I’ll talk to you later.”

But he will never fulfil that promise.

On Saturday, the Hope Road, St Lucy man perished in the waters off Nan’s Bay, in the same parish, in a spearfishing accident. He was 65. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to aid in their investigations.

Yesterday, one of Greaves’ long-time friends and neighbours, Andrew Headley, recounted the final days he spent with the man with whom he had grown up. (AD)
