AN ADVOCATE against drug use does not think that decriminalisation of marijuana will bring any significant benefits to the society.
As a matter of fact, Roger Husbands believes that if the economic value of marijuana is decreased with the legalisation of small quantities for use, drug lords would turn to a profitable alternative to ensure survival of their business.
Husbands, who is chairman of Drug Education and Counselling Services (DECS), says he goes into troubled communities and speaks to drug lords. He added some could not wait until marijuana was decriminalised.
“If it is decriminalised, you are going to put drug lords in a position that they cannot make as much money as they used to and at the end of the day, they are going to bring in harder drugs in this nation because they have to make their money,” said Husbands. (TG)
