ANY TALK OF a sudden price increase on products come Thursday is just hot air.
Or so it should be, said Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler yesterday, as he castigated companies for advertising that they would be raising their prices on September 1due to the newly-imposed two per cent National Social Responsibility Levy on imported items.
“I view with much interest the alacrity with which some business people seem to be almost gleefully announcing all of these high price increases,” Sinckler told the media following the launch of the newest Burger King franchise in Warrens, St Michael.
“I think consumers and the agencies responsible for consumer protection, whether publicly or private, should be very wary and alert to what we are seeing transpire.” (AD)
