A LEADING REALTOR and one of the men behind the Pierhead Development Project has one major problem with the proposed Hyatt Hotel on Bay Street – its scale.
Sir Paul Altman, the new deputy chairman of the rebranded Heritage Preservation Task Force of Barbados and a longstanding member of the Barbados National Trust, said the hotel’s height – 15 stories – was his major concern.
He was speaking to the DAILY NATION on Sunday after he was a guest on Voice of Barbados’ Sunday Brass Tacks.
Sir Paul noted that the Hyatt project, spearheaded by Mark Maloney, had become controversial because it was being built in the island’s UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site and because of the impact it would have on the immediate surroundings, in addition to other issues. (HLE)
