OPPOSITION LEADER Mia Mottley has sounded a warning to some Barbados Labour Party (BLP) hopefuls who are engaging in divisive nomination campaigns.

Holding up the just completed process in St Philip North as an example for others to follow, she pointed to the damage that negative tactics could have on the party.

Using the United States presidential race as an example, she said it clearly showed the dangers of resorting to such methods.

“You see the US, you see [Donald] Trump, you see Hilary [Clinton], but what you see play out is a divisive primary system, a divisive nomination process that so splits the core of the party that when the nomination process, the primaries, are over, the ability to bring it back together becomes difficult,” she said.
