PUBLIC SERVICE VEHICLE (PSV) operators will come under additional scrutiny with the introduction of electronic monitoring by two of the island’s largest general insurance providers.
Sagicor General Insurance and the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Ltd (ICBL) yesterday unveiled plans for an insurance policy exclusively for PSVs, that will see comprehensive use of monitoring devices and techniques to track the way these vehicles are operated.
During a media conference at Sagicor General’s Wildey, St Michael headquarters, chief executive officer David Alleyne said under the insurance contract, the PSVs would be monitored using criteria that the company’s research had identified as indicative of their driving behaviour. (GC)
