DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF Music with the Royal Barbados Police Force Band Superintendent Cortez Callender ended 52 years with the band yesterday and colleagues gave him a rousing send-off.

The strain of some of Callender’s favourite pieces of music filled the Prince Cave Hall and in his final act with the baton in his official capacity, he rose to the dais to conduct the band in his best loved selection Colonel Bogey.

Callender’s two farewell gifts were an original wood carving of a cello player and a framed montage made up of select emblems from police insignia and other mementos representative of his many years moving through the ranks of the Royal Barbados Police force.  (BN)
