WHEN THE 2016 home porting season begins next month, 200 000 passengers are expected to pass through Barbados.
Chief executive officer at Foster & Ince, Martin Ince, said this figure represented a two per cent increase in travellers departing and arriving on 450 charter flights over 20 weeks from the United Kingdom and Germany, starting from November 4.Â
The senior tourism official told the DAILY NATION yesterday this statistic represented 100 000 coming into the island and 100 000 departing. He made the announcement following a ceremony to celebrate the inaugural visit of the Viking Star-class of cruise ships’ lead vessel MV Viking Star.
The ceremony included an exchange of plaques from Captain Rune Likling and Minister of Tourism and International Transport Richard Sealy. (TSG)
