Barbados’ education still among the best

MAKE NO MISTAKE about it, Barbados’ educational system is far superior to others worldwide.

This was the opinion of retired Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Michael Geoghegan while addressing senior students at Harrison College in banking and finance at the Crumpton Street school on Tuesday.

“You might not agree with me but you have a standard of education and moral code that is significantly better than most of the countries than I have ever visited,” he said.

“You have at the centre of your culture a family structure and most people in Barbados are prepared to help each other.”

He praised the Barbadian people for their friendly approach towards others while highlighting the manners outsiders seem to lack.

“Please don’t lose it but over the years you will lose it. It’s yours to guard, the structure of your family and the connectivity of your people and the understanding that is the best gift to yourself,” he added. (MR)
