REDUCE THE RENT!
That’s the cry of some cash-strapped residents of Government’s high-rise apartment buildings at Valery, Brittons Hill St Michael.
It was recently revealed as part of a scathing special audit conducted by Auditor General Leigh Trotman that 47 per cent of those living at the Britton’s Hill-based apartment buildings were in arrears, and that the facility, based on its construction-cost price, is not in a position to earn Government the level of revenue originally considered.
When a SUNDAY SUN team visited the 76-unit complex recently, residents, most of them civil servants, highlighted the fact that Government employees had not received a pay hike in more than half a decade, and were now battling to make ends meet. (BA)
