DEAR CHRISTINE: Boyfriend spends no time with me

Date:

Share post:

DEAR CHRISTINE, I am in love with a guy who is 24 years old. I am 19. It’s about three months now since we met. When we met he told me when he loves a girl it is only “her one” for him. All the others are friends.

My problem is when I go by him for the weekend or the week and I have to answer the phone and it is for him and I ask “who is speaking?’ the person would put down the telephone in my ears. When he comes home and I tell him, he acts as if he does not care.

Sometimes they would call and ask to speak to me.

When I answer, they would put down the phone in my ears also. When I mention this to him, he says he understands how it is and he will get it stopped but it is still happening and I don’t know what to do.

Christine, I love him and would do anything for him. He says he loves me but I do not think so. When I am there he would call his friends and they would laugh and talk about an hour. He would make plans to meet them, yet he says there is nothing going on with him and them. Christine, I want to know what to do.

Y. B

Dear Y.B:

I think you should stay out of that man’s house and stop answering his telephone. I also don’t believe that you should take him too seriously. A young man will have several girlfriends, especially if they are readily available.

As much as you would like him to be exclusively yours, you must agree that he’s hardly that. People who make that kind of commitment are usually people who have marriage on their minds.

I would advise you to make other friends. Not lovers – friends. Join a club and get involved in some healthy games. He is a free spirit – so are you. Fly, enjoy life. You are still very young.

Don’t get yourself bogged down with someone who from all accounts has you staked out while he enjoys the company of other young people.

– CHRISTINE
