Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Opposition Leader Owen Arthur should name deputies, Barbadians have said, and if it were up to them, Chris Sinckler and Mia Mottley would be the respective picks.
According to the recent CADRES poll, Minister of Finance Sinckler and Mottley, Opposition MP for St Michael North-East, are also seen as the alternative leaders for their parties nationally.
Next in line would be economist Clyde Mascoll for the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) and Minister of Education Ronald Jones for the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP).
Since taking over as Prime Minister following the death of David Thompson on October 23, 2010, Stuart has not named a deputy, instead identifying various Cabinet members to act in the position in his absence. (DP)
