POTTERY IN Barbados may be on the decline.

While there are still talented potters creating beautiful works of art, interest and participation may be waning.

At Earthworks in Edghill Heights, St Thomas, staff said the season was not to the level they were accustomed to but speculated everyone was spending less, while potter Kaye Hinkson said pottery was dying as youth were not taking part.

However, veteran potter John Springer, of Chalky Mount, St Andrew, said he still had hope but realised there was a need to take the craft further with a dedicated teaching facility. (CA)
