The twin towers of Samuel Alkins and Ajani Ince guided Yellow House to their second straight title at Queen’s College sports at the National Stadium on Thursday.

Yellow, parading as the Panthers, tore the opposition apart by amassing 603 points.

Blue House were next on 369.16; Red got 317.50; Orange, 294; Green, 257.33, and Purple, 243.

Division 2 competitor Alkins dominated his peers to emerge victor ludorum with 62 points.

He scored wins in the high jump, 1500, 800, 400 and200 metres.

Ince was top performer among the Division 1 Boys with 59 points. He was triumphant in the long, high and triple jumps, as well as the javelin and 100 metres.

Emerging athlete Nya Browne from Green House was unstoppable in the sprints, taking the 100 metres (12.64 seconds), 200 metres (25.63) and the 400 metres (63.16) as she dominated Division 3 on the track. She will be one to watch at the secondary school sports next month.

Janae Estwick of Blue was another triple crown winner as she outsprinted the Division 4 girls in the 100, 200 and400 metres.

Green House didn’t do well collectively, but still produced the victrix ludorum in Division 1 lass Dana Brathwaite, who got 84 points with victories in the long and high jump, shot put, discus and 400 metres.

They also had double sprint champions in Division 1 girl Dominique Lafond andSean Raphael in the Division 3 Boys.

Purple’s Kamille Gaskin-Griffith, competing in Division 2, was close behind on 79 points. She won the long jump, discus, javelin and 200 metres.

There was an upbeat, energetic fervour throughout the day from cheering students and this bodes well in building team spirit for the schools’ championships. (AT)
