Carpooling implications

THE RECENT ANNOUNCEMENT of plans to implement a carpooling system has several implications for vehicle insurance and president of the General Insurance Association of Barbados (GIAB), Davis Browne, said the association was looking at it.

When asked if the policy would impact on the type of insurance cars would need to get as well as if there were any concerns among the insurance fraternity, Browne said they were currently discussing the topic. He said nothing was finalised in terms of a position from the insurance industry.

“There are several factors to be looked at relating to the matter,” Browne said while noting the GIAB would make a full statement at that time.

“There are some implications there and we just want to be clear in our minds that we have covered all that we need to cover and cover it properly,” Browne said.
