THE COMMUNITY OF Chimborazo, St Joseph, pulled together yesterday to help one of its own after a coconut tree made an unwelcomed house call.

Samuel Sobers, 66, told the DAILY NATION he was home alone between noon and 12:30 p.m. when he heard a noise.

“The wind was blowing strong, so I step out to see if the almond tree was damaged. I turned to go back to the kitchen when I hear a loud crack,” he said.

His first thought was the almond tree but it was a nearby coconut tree which had been uprooted, falling squarely on the roof of his house. (CA)
