THE FIRST DAY of Agrofest 2017 was dedicated mostly to the youth of Barbados.
Hundreds of enthusiastic schoolchildren descended on Queen’s Park, Constitution Road, St Michael, for the annual agricultural exhibition, with some parents and teachers in tow, keeping them in order. Their behaviour was exemplary and it garnered praise from tourists, locals and Barbados Agricultural Society chief executive officer, James Paul.
This year, Agrofest features an expanded kids area for those who want to frolic. The children were just as fascinated with the large bulls, colourful chicks, shy sheep and myriad plants.
A group of diligent Coleridge & Parry students were spotted with notebooks in hand, scribbling away as Ministry of Agriculture researcher Owen Gamble explained all about hydroponics. (CA)
