WE CRAWLED on our stomachs, waded through cold, chest-high water and had clay smeared on our faces and in our hair.
It was all during a three-hour Eco-Adventure tour laid on by Harrison’s Cave for members of the media and other guests on Saturday.
The aim, said Andrea Franklin, the new chief executive officer of Caves of Barbados, the entity which runs the St Thomas attraction, was to promote the new tour available to the public.
Suited up in elbow and knee pads, helmets with lights and gloves and after having practised three different types of crawling – all of which we were assured we would have to use – the four tour guides – Barry Alleyne, Shaun Maynard, Peter Gittens and Jason Lemon – led the party of about 20 people 230 feet below the surface.
