Attacking Francis, Spencer stop rivals

KERRY “TC” FRANCIS and Shawn “Schwarzenegger” Spencer scored impressive wins when the Massy United Insurance Clash Of The Titans road tennis tournament continued at the Dover courts on Wednesday night.

Francis, out of St Lucy, sealed a 21-10, 21-17 victory over Junior Alleyne, whose competition debut was marked by an aggressive and attacking style that captivated the crowd.

Francis prevailed by countering with attack and seizing the advantage by displaying greater ball control when needed. However, even when he faced the possibility of a sow in the first game at 9-20, Alleyne still punched
the ball with venom.

Southpaw Spencer was equally aggressive against the consummate chopper Victor “Earth” Ward with his method of play, earning victory 21-17, 21-18.  Spencer’s looping smashes saw him totally dominating the first game with leads of 9-3 and 17-12. (KB)
