‘Venom’ cripples ‘Force Ripe’

PLAYING WITH THE focus, determination and skill of a three-time champion, Mark “Venom” Griffith outplayed the cocky Davien “Force Ripe” Taylor 21-18, 21-17 on Thursday night, when the Massy United Insurance Clash Of The Titans road tennis tournament continued at the Dover Courts.

Griffith gave his training partner Taylor and the crowd a tutorial in A class road tennis to move from 7-4 to lock the scores at 10, before moving to 14-11 as the normally aggressive Taylor employed a passive rallying style.

Griffith, looking the more attacking, took charge of the opening game 20-15 before shockingly serving out the ball.

Taylor then assumed his attacking mode, mixing crisp smashes with vicious injections to take two more points before losing the opener.
