NETBALL FANS were given a treat when all five Division 1 teams appeared in Friday night’s knockout action at the Netball Stadium.

Defending champions Signia UWI Blackbirds advanced to tomorrow night’s semi-finals with a tough 48-36 win over former queens C.O. Williams Rangers and Pine Hill St Barnabas advanced over Guardian General Pride of Villa 54-34.

However, it was a breeze for newly promoted Spooners Hill Firebirds, who brushed aside Division 2 side Notre Dame Ballers 61-20. Former national sharpshooter Lydia Bishop ruled with 48 goals from 55 attempts, with trainee Quantya Rudder sinking 13 of 19.

While the Firebirds were superior in the shooting circle, it was their mean midcourt defence and offence which controlled and won the match.
