PEDESTRIANS WILL SOON be back on the Wickham-Lewis Boardwalk in The City.
Earlier today, the hoarding came down to reveal the renovated structure which runs parallel to Wharf Road.
The boardwalk was closed in June last year to allow contractors PNC Construction and Equipment Rentals Inc., to do refurbishment work on a section between the lift bridge and the lights by Cheffette Restaurants.
It was initially scheduled to last for “six to eight week”, but went on for significantly longer.
During that time, the pedestrian crossing was relocated to the Northern end of the Chamberlain Lift Bridge crossing into Heroes Square, but this caused problems for drivers, leading to traffic congesting in the area, so traffic officials reverted to the original crossing. (SAT)
