IT WAS THE FINAL party in the 2016/17 winter season in honour of visitors who have come to Barbados countless times, and host, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, and tourism officials made sure a good time was had by all.

The two-hour reception afforded guests the opportunity to peruse the architecturally attractive official residence and rub shoulders with the Prime Minister and other prominent Barbadians from different areas of endeavour.

On the outside, stiltmen and a Mother Sally dancing to tuk band music greeted guests arriving at Ilaro Court. Inside, they were entertained by the sweet voices of children from St Paul’s Primary School, accompanied by the maestro himself, Gabby, singing Barbadian folk songs and other songs that spoke of Barbadians’ hospitality.

As he did at previous visitor receptions, the Prime Minister said how much Barbados valued the patronage of people who continued to make the island their destination of choice and he promised to continue to provide them with a safe environment in which they could feel comfortable. It was one of the features of the island, Stuart said, which made it desirable, along with the hospitality of Barbadians.
