Holder’s hopes

WEST INDIES’ cricket captain Jason Holder has high hopes his inexperienced team can level the three-match Brighto Paints Q Mobile Cup series against Pakistan by winning the second Test starting at Kensington Oval, today.

Pakistan lead the series 1-0 following their seven-wicket triumph in the first match in Jamaica but they have never won a rubber in the Caribbean or a Test at “The Mecca”, where they have lost three of six matches.

“Finishing off 2016, we beat the same Pakistan in Sharjah, so I definitely think we’ve got what it takes so we just got to tick our boxes in terms of getting some runs, taking our chances when they come and the bowlers have to be able to get 20 wickets,” Holder noted.

“We’ve done that in Sharjah and the majority of the UAE [United Arab Emirates] as well. It is just a situation where you have to put consistent runs on the board,” added Holder, who has won just one of his 13 Tests as captain while losing nine and drawing three.
