THE RED BEAM of Ragged Point lighthouse will once again play out over the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

And the man behind the full restoration of the 1875 sentinel of the East would like it fully functional by September.

Yesterday Dave Hinds, the finance director of Hinds Transport Inc., told the DAILY NATION that the restoration would include not only the lighthouse keeper’s residence, but the 97-foot stone tower and the tower room at the top.

He, however, declined to disclose the cost of the restoration, but at last count, it was estimated, by a Barbados Port Inc. official, at about $1.2 million to restore the historic building. (HLE)
